As one of the fastest growing regions in the Gold Coast, the city of Southport has seen an increase in commercial developments in the last few years – with high end residential apartments and retail developments taking up a large portion of these projects. Late last year the Woolworths Southport underwent a major refurbishment and QLD fabricator: Murphy Glass & Maintenance was called in to install all the commercial framing.

For this project, David and the team from Murphy Glass & Maintenance chose the Darley 150mm x 50mm front single glazed commercial framing system – one of Darley’s most versatile and widely used commercial framing systems amongst fabricators.

Part of the Woolworths refurbishment included the installation of a commercial framing system that could be combined with a mechanical louvre window system used for smoke relief in the event of a fire emergency. The 150mm x 50mm front single glazed framing system was the ideal choice, with its ability to hold the weight of the mechanical louvre system and support its ongoing operation. With its sleek slimline profiles, this commercial framing system with its modern aesthetic was able to seamlessly integrate with the automatic commercial doors.

Ideal for retail shopfronts, the 150mm x 50mm front single glazed commercial framing system provided may other benefits including a self-draining transom to combat water leaks and the ability to accommodate a glass thickness of up to 12.38mm.

Ease of fabrication and installation was another factor that contributed to Murphy’s Glass using this commercial framing system.
