NSW Fabricator: Airflow Louvres recently undertook the process of shipping a CityView Architectural Sliding doors from our Australian shores to the serene beauty of a chalet in France.

The chalet owners were after a sliding door system that could installed in a frequently used workshop.
A system that would maximise natural light without obstructing their picturesque views of the French countryside. They were also interested in a sliding system that could seamlessly be blended with the aesthetic charm and architectural integrity of their French chalet.

One of the challenges that the owners encountered was trying to find a door system that would not overshadow the two elegant wooden stable doors in front of it. They made the right choice by installing the CityView architectural sliding door, this system is versatile and can be fabricated in various configurations to suit both residential and commercial applications.

Another priority for the owner was installing a system that was high-performing and tested to Australian Standards.

Located on the fringes of the Sydney CBD, the two TNT towers offer just about everything, combining the convenience of inner-city living with spacious architecturally designed apartments and commercial office space.

Within walking distance of Redfern train station, the building’s occupants are surrounded by trendy cafes, restaurants, retailers, Sydney University, and panoramic views of the CBD skyline, parklands, and glittering water views of Botany Bay.

From its prominent position in the heart of Redfern, the TNT Tower complex consists of 162 luxury apartments, commercial office space, and retail stores – all with panoramic city views.

A collaborative project involving design from award winning architect Angelo Candalepas & Associates and leading Sydney property developer and builder Deicorp. Each apartment showcases the finest appliances and finishes, including SMEG appliances, stone and marble benchtops, and architecturally designed floor-to-ceiling windows, doors, and aluminium framing.

NSW Fabricator: Style windows and doors were appointed the window and door fabricator for this project and recommended a series of commercial framing systems and the CityView windows and doors for this spectacular commercial building.

This eighteen-level mixed-use commercial building has utilized a wide range of Darley’s window and door systems to deliver 162 apartments with a stunning aesthetic, functionality, and compliance with Australian Standards.

On the ground floor of the TNT tower, located at 1A Lawson Square, is a Woolworths Metro supermarket that features Darley’s 150mm x 50mm front single-glazed commercial framing system. Perfectly suited for busy retail shopfronts, Style Windows installed the 150mm front single-glazed framing for its higher performance and versatility in commercial applications.

The profile and strength of the 150mm framing system enhances the modern and sleek aesthetic of the Woolworths shopfront and maximizes the natural light.

Commercial office spaces and building lobby
Style Windows were also responsible for installing the doors and commercial framing in the building’s commercial spaces. They had to choose systems that perfectly framed the outdoor city views and enhanced the overall comfort of the office environment.

The 100mm centre single-glazed framing was installed for its clean lines and modern aesthetic which can seamlessly integrate into Darley’s commercial window and door systems.

To complement the commercial framing, CityView sliding doors were installed to provide access to the outdoor balconies. Tested to Australian Standard AS2047 and durable enough for frequent use, these sliding doors are well suited for a busy, high-traffic commercial office environment.

To enhance the offices’ calming grey neutral tones, the locks installed on the CityView sliding doors were powdercoated in Dulux Duratec Surfmist finish, the same finish used on the frames of the aluminium sliding doors.

Darley’s commercial framing was also installed in the building’s lobby area. With 100mm  centre single-glazed framing powdercoated in Dulux Duratec White and combined with frameless glass to create automatic sliding doors.

Residential Apartments
Each apartment was built with high-quality appliances and finishes – Style Windows wanted to install a sliding door system that could effortlessly integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces and maximize the spectacular outdoor views. The CityView Architectural sliding door was installed, ticking all the boxes and providing many more features – one of which was soundproofing.

With the apartments situated so close to Redfern train station, it was essential to install windows and doors with soundproofing. The CityView Architectural Sliding door offered the perfect choice with its ability to block out unwanted noises and an acoustic rating of Rw35.

This architecturally designed sliding door system can reach a maximum panel height of 3200mm and panel weight of 200kg, making it perfect for large spans and floor-to-ceiling sliding door configurations.

When designing the residential apartments, architects and engineers also had to ensure the window systems installed could handle the high wind loads the building could be subjected to and have confidence that the systems they select have been rigorously tested, like Darley’s CityView suite of commercial systems.

CityView 50mm heavy-duty awning windows were installed in the bedrooms, with this awning window system providing superior sealing and blocking out noise from nearby busy Redfern train station while also offering the right amount of ventilation and natural airflow.
There are a number of opening mechanisms that can be used with this 50mm awning window, including an integrated hook hinge, friction stays with cam handles and chain winders, and, of course, can be restricted to meet fall height requirements in the National Construction Code (NCC).

TNT Tower’s prominent location in the heart of Redfern makes it suitable for both residential and commercial tenants, now and long into the future. Aluminium Express Windows was selected as the window and door fabricator for a purpose-built industrial warehouse developed for Martin Brower ANZ, a prominent supply chain solutions company. Situated in Dandenong, VIC, this cutting-edge facility encompasses 9,500 square meters of tailor-made warehousing and 690 square meters designated for office use.

Catering to restaurants across Australia with supply chain solutions, Martin Brower ANZ’s recently constructed industrial warehouse features not only commercial office spaces but also loading docks, freezers, and chillers.

Designed and constructed by prominent property developers Salta Properties, this warehouse is one of the first Five Star Green Star certified industrial developments in Victoria. With sustainability and energy efficiency high on the agenda, Express Aluminium Windows wanted to install window and door systems that achieved optimal energy ratings – they made the right choice and installed CityView windows & doors and Darley’s commercial framing systems.

Darley’s 150mm x 50mm Front Single-glazed commercial framing system was installed on the front façade – perfectly complimenting the tall glass panels and providing a modern, sleek aesthetic with its slim profile and clean lines. 45mm commercial doors were prominently used in this project, installed in a hinged door configuration and as an automatic sliding door. Widely used in commercial projects with high-traffic areas, the 45mm commercial door provides strength and durability and is ideally suited for applications with frequent opening & closing of doors. For this project, an automatic sliding door was created by combining a 101.6mm centre single-glazed commercial framing with a 45mm commercial door. In addition to being well suited to high-traffic areas, these systems also provide soundproofing, which is essential for internal commercial office spaces.

Located in Palm Beach NSW, this home boasts never-ending water views and exposure to coastal weather – so selecting the right window and door systems was an important component of this project.

NSW Fabricator: Trio Designs Pty Ltd was selected to fabricate and install the window, door, and framing systems for this new home that were not only visually appealing but also high-performing and long-lasting. A complex project, Trio Designs had to utilise a range of Darley systems for this project.

What better way to admire the water views than with the HarbourView top rolling multi-fold door system. Installed in the living area and opening up to the wrap-around balcony – the HarbourView multi-fold door system was installed for its versatility and ability to handle harsh weather and water penetration.

In the front entrance of the home, 101.6mm x 50mm center double glazed commercial framing was installed to give the appearance of increased space and maximise natural light. With its sleek and minimalist design, this commercial framing system perfectly complimented the home’s light and white aesthetic.

One of the highlights of this project was the installation of the 45mm commercial doors which were used in hinged door, pivot, and sliding configurations. Suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial applications, the 45mm commercial door system was chosen for its versatility and ability to compliment other Darley commercial systems.

In the end, the homeowners were happy with their new home and look forward to outdoor entertaining, and spectacular ocean views for years to come.

It might seem a bit dated but some workplaces still have dedicated telephone rooms. Usually small in size, telephone rooms allow staff to make phone calls and hold virtual meetings in private.

It’s not hard to understand why some companies still use telephone rooms with many workplaces an open plan orientation with constant noise and insufficient meeting rooms.

Don Commercial Interiors were approached by a company located in Sydney’s CBD to help fabricate and install a suitable door system for their telephone rooms. They faced the challenge of deciding what types of doors could be used, that accommodate the limited space and blend in with the white and light colour scheme of the surrounding offices.

Don and his team had the perfect solution and installed the HarbourView Top Rolling Multi-Fold Door System. The HarbourView system ticked all the boxes and was able to accommodate the tight space, is easy to operate with two black handles installed on the main panel, and can accommodate a range of glass types with a maximum of 20mm glass thickness.

Lift shafts are traditionally used to house a lift car and mechanical equipment such as the lift motor, to transport residents and goods between the different levels of the building. Most of the time lift shafts are concealed within the building and not visible to the public.

QLD Architects: Specific systems Pty Ltd were approached by the body corporate of a commercial building based in Kangaroo Point QLD, who wanted to close their open and external observation lifts to reduce the damage caused by exposure to the elements.

A challenging project with the commercial building consisting of two towers, each with an external observation lift. Many factors had to be taken into consideration for this project including retrofitting the existing structure, determining the right system to close the external lift shafts and taking the lifts out of service during the process of installation.

Michael and the engineers from Specific systems Pty Ltd chose a combination of the Darley fixed louvre window system and 100mm x 50mm front single glazed commercial framing system as a solution to closing the external observation shafts.  The 100mm x 50mm front single glazed commercial framing system was used for its strength, durability and high structural & deflection ratings, achieving an ultimate strength rating of 2,600Pa. It was also selected for its compliance to Australian Standards with this commercial framing system, tested to and exceeding AS2047 – Windows in Buildings. The fixed louvre window system was installed at the top and bottom to enclose the structure, while also providing a certain amount of ventilation for the lift motor and other mechanical components.

In the end, the body corporate was pleased with the final result, with the external lift shafts now closed with the commercial framing systems, that not only provide protection against the elements and external factors but also, nicely integrate with commercial buildings modern style and design. The time taken to complete the project was also a bonus with the team at Specific systems completing the work well before the delivery date, with minimal lift outages and inconvenience to residents. No doubt the ease of fabricating and installing the 100m x 50mm front single glazed commercial framing system, had allot to do with the achieving this timeframe.

As one of the fastest growing regions in the Gold Coast, the city of Southport has seen an increase in commercial developments in the last few years – with high end residential apartments and retail developments taking up a large portion of these projects. Late last year the Woolworths Southport underwent a major refurbishment and QLD fabricator: Murphy Glass & Maintenance was called in to install all the commercial framing.
